Bruised, the latest from Greg Hall's Broke But Making Films.

Last week Plagium was screened at the Edinburgh short film night, Write Shoot Cut - http://write-shoot-cut.com.  On the same bill was the European premier of award winning filmmaker Greg Hall's new short, Bruised.  Greg and lead actor, Paul Stevens were in attendance and spoke about the process they went through for the film.  Great folk and a great film.  You can see it by clicking on the image. Neil Rolland, the man behind Write Shoot Cut and Ross Maclean, who led the Q&A's deserve a mention for the great job they're doing for short film in Edinburgh.

Arthur Cant nominated for Best Short Comedy

Absolutely delighted that Arthur Cant has been nominated for Best Comedy Short at the Limelight Film Awards 2012.  Looking forward to the ceremony (which takes place at the Troxy, London on 14th June) and catching up with Woolfcub Productions, Jesse Quinnones, who produced the film, the director, Fabio Dominguez, and the rest of the fantastic cast and crew.

Three of the shorts to be screened at the Landed Festival

The Landed Festival in North Wales 4th-6th May, has live music, an open air cinema, a stage for theatre, comedy, a gallery and lots of other stuff. And they'll be screening Small Gifts, Plagium and Arthur Cant.

No Mean City adaptation

A while back I mentioned here that I'd been invited down to London and offered a project.  Well it's early days, but the project is a feature adaptation of the novel, No Mean City.  It's taken a few weeks but that's the 1st draft of my adaptation treatment off to the rights-holder and other interested parties.  It feels like a decent step forward, although there are obviously still still mountains to climb.  So as I await their notes and comments, it's time to get back to my Network (www.eiffnetwork.com) project - Best Evidence.

David Lumsden, Edinburgh filmmaker

Enjoyable first meeting today with Edinburgh filmmaker, David Lumsden.  Spoke about a project he's been thinking about and working on for a while, and he's very kindly asked me to come onboard.  Click on the image to go to David's website and see what else he's getting up to.  I love the look of 'Boat'.

Plagium to be screened at Write Shoot Cut

Pleased that Plagium will be showing at the next Write Shoot Cut monthly short film night in Edinburgh on 14th May.  Click on the logo above for more information on the event and Neil Rolland, the man behind it.

Network meetings coming up.

Looking forward to two Network development programme meetings that are coming up.  First is with Ivana Mackinnon (left) next week in Glasgow and the other with Kate Leys the following week in Edinburgh.  Click on the images to find out more about these very experienced (and very nice) ladies.

Africa First short film programme

Had a very nice Skype call this morning with Caroline Kamya, a British Ugandan filmmaker now based in Amsterdam.  I was really pleased to hear that Caroline is applying for the Africa First short film programme with my script, 'Needs'. This is a BFI interview with Caroline discussing her multi-award winning feature, 'Imani' -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1qbK4OMpeM. A sunny Friday, good news and connecting with a great new collaborator - can't beat it!

Multiple Choice to be staged again

Pleased to hear today that, thanks to John Yule's efforts, Multiple Choice will be having another outing, this time in Kirkcaldy, some time in June.

Plagium

A big thank you to everyone who voted and viewed, Plagium, in Shooting People's Film of the Month, February, 2012.  The film was shortlisted to the final three but unfortunately didn't win.  Judge, Mark Cousins, said: "This creepy, convincing film is about the anxiety of parenthood. It's unpredictable and tart, full of feeling and has great performances."
